So you’re a Twitch Streamer and you’re not sure if you can smoke weed on Twitch. We got together Cewpins, a partnered streamer on Twitch who has been smoking weed on the platform since 2018 to give us some insight. The answer isn’t exactly the same for everyone.
Are you allowed to smoke weed on Twitch?
Yes, as long as it is Legal for you to do so. Excluding the topic of weed it would pretty dumb to live broadcast yourself doing something illegal or committing a crime. Weed isn’t any different. While there are many states where smoking weed is still illegal, some states with medical and recreational cannabis have different rules. Just because you live in a state that has medical cannabis doesn’t automatically give you a pass to smoke. There have been cases in the past where Twitch officials reach out to the Streamer and confirm they have a valid medical card in their state. While they’re not verifying every streamer’s medical card, it would be wise to avoid smoking on your stream until it is legal for you.
Bans Are Still Possible, Even if Smoking is Legal
While you might not get banned for “smoking weed” there are other ways people have gotten banned on their cannabis-friendly streams. Things like taking donations for hits, or ripping the bong for every new subscriber are still against the Terms of Service. Avoiding things that could be considered self-harm is always a good idea when streaming.
